"I want the Federal Government to end taxpayer handouts to wealthy fossil fuel corporations that profit from causing climate change." This budget, I call on you to abolish the $308 million of our taxes handed to coal companies each year to help pay for their diesel. Instead, this money should be spent on developing a vibrant renewable energy industry for Australia. I also ask you to launch a parliamentary inquiry to ensure none of my money is used to finance climate change. Mr Swan, your government says it will take climate change seriously. Now is the moment to break with the Howard legacy of climate inaction, and put our money where your mouth is."

We delivered the petition to the Treasurer ahead of the Federal Budget, having obtained more than 20,000 signatures online and a further 10,000 on postcards and at community events.
